TC-plan |
V 1.01 |
Important: All the files, supplied with TCplan.zip, must be copied to the Excel-default-file-folder, |
to
be seen under "TOOLS / OPTIONS / GENERAL / Default File Location"
of the Excel application. |
For ease of use, fill
the different sheets from leftmost "Effic.TC" to right
"Skineff.". |
Using the TAB -
key, you can jump directly to the |
input fields |
, within each sheet. |
This
Excel-workbook has grown with my only ~ 2 years (-renewed) activity in Tesla
coiling. |
And
I have included topics of my primary interest, within different worksheets,
beeing aware |
of
the relative and time-depending nature of the contents. I've integrated some
mails of |
prominent
coilers, published in the "Tesla Coil Mailing List". And I hope,
they will forgive |
my,
possibly narrowed down, interpretation of their knowledge, within this Excel
sheet. |
I'm
very much indebted to many members of the TCML (Tesla Coil Mailing List
"pupman") |
the
GTL. (German Tesla List) and the TSSP (Tesla Secondary Simulation Project). |
Within
the "Excel" are interfaces to two more advanced program tools of
modern coiling: |
To
Terry Fritz's E-Tesla for
field- and secondary C calculation, and to Paul Nicholson's |
ACMI for coupling coefficient calculation. My TC-plan Excel might be confusing for
the |
very
'newbie' coiler, but hopefully provide
useful service a little later on. Out of a big choice |
of
nice TC design programs, I like to point to some of my favorite tools for
easy TC design: |
Scott Coppersmith's: |
Wintesla ---> Reliable Windows program |
Bart Anderson's Java
Script: |
JavaTC
---> Modern tool, usable online or standalone |
Bart Anderson's Excel: |
Qtc
---> very compact, contains MMC design |
Ed Sonderman's Excel: |
Teslexlb --->...from which my TC-plan
started |
Wheras
these above programs are designed for US/English input units, my one is
mainly for |
the
metric system. However most sizes are also expressed in inches, and it would
be easy to |
change
the "program" for an English units input version. |
Trying
to provide a calculation-module plug-in platform, my own TC-plan may be |
too
extended or too narrow, following your goals. You may remove the following
worksheets, |
without
affecting the calculations core: |
- intro (=this sheet) |
- Caps |
- Effic.TC |
- Arc-mod |
- Coupl. |
- Losses |
- MMC |
-
Sparkgap V |
By
that way you can get your 'small', tailored, TC design workbook, but in this
case, |
I
recommend using one of the more compact design programs from the fellow
coilers, |
mentioned
above.- However you may extend the workbook deliberately, following your |
preferences!
- If you don't like to dive into Excel 'programming', better don't remove: |
- TC calc |
- AWG |
- TC sketch |
- Skineff. |
- E-Tesla |
- Proxi-eff. |
-

...because
there are linked fields, existing among those worksheets. |
With
the exception of the (yellow) input- and
experimental (green)data fields, |
I
have provided protection of the different worksheets, however only to protect |
yourself
from inadvertently corrupting the workbook. ... If you choose |
"TOOLS / PROTECTION / UNPROTECT
SHEET", you'll be able to change |
everyting
you like, in the actual worksheet.(no passwords set!). "TC-plan" |
is
herewith supplied to the freeware area, in order to support the serious |
hobby
coiler, and you may do with it at your will. However if you decide to |
include
parts or all of "TC-plan" in your website or own program, please |
give
me due credit and link to: |
http://home.datacomm.ch/k.schraner/index.htm |
I
have tried to eliminate errors, by recalculating my own Tesla coils and
comparing |
the
results to measurements, where available, apart from plausibility testing and |
reviewing
the relations, within the worksheets, but I can not exclude errors
remaining. |
I
will of course help to resolve problems, and try to find such errors, when
asked so |
by
users observing such problems. But I will take no responsibility for anything |
problematic,
- namely injurence of persons, waste of material or money, resulting |
from
the use of this TC-plan Excel-workbook. |
